Agamemnon

But the real star of the play is Elise Stone who channels Clytemnestra with a range and depth of emotion that makes this production truly memorable

AEA / SAG-AFTRA

Tartuffe

Elise Stone is effortlessly hilarious as Orgon’s indomitable wife Elmire.  With her dry delivery and intense presence, Ms. Stone’s characterization is perfection.”

The Gamblers

Elise Stone as Granny gets it right. As the vulgar, animated and ebullient old lady, she gives a nuanced performance that always keeps us guessing as to her real motives and she takes command of the stage whenever she appears.

Multiple Roles/The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui

Elise Stone’s characterizations run the gambit from the critically loony to the politic and dignified and from the rise of her back to the placement of her voice each character is identified to their fullest self.  She guilessly induces the audience to laughter in one scene, and tears with another.

Mary Stuart/Mary Stuart

Elise Stone portrays Mary, that "loveliest of women and the saddest," with a regality and full-blooded passion tempered by warmth and softness. She is a woman who knows how to use her beauty with subtlety to achieve her ends, and in Ms. Stone's performance it is easy to remember that nearly half the English population supported her.

Kath / Entertaining Mr. Sloan

Ms. Stone’s raucous performance is a wonderful model of comic earthiness combined with affective, dramatic depth.

Medea/Medea

Fiery, sexy and sultry, Ms. Stone commands the stage from her first entrance with her long black hair flowing like a Medusa and her dress slit up to her thighs. Ms. Stone uses a remarkable vocal range in breathing life into a mythological character that is all too human: from a pleading and seductive tone in her manipulation of Creon and Aegeus she turns to hot-tempered fury in her confrontation with Jason, then finally expounds her murderous plans for revenge in an otherworldly voice that sounds like the demon in ''The Exorcist.''

Mother Courage/Mother Courage

Elise Stone, as Mother Courage, is a small, fierce, dark-haired woman with a voice pure enough to carry the songs easily and raw enough to intimidate soldiers and camp followers who get in her way.

Leona/Small Craft Warnings

Stone grabs hold of Leona and performs the shit out of this monster role. She acts as if it were her last night on stage, as if her whole career had led up to this incredible burst of bravado. Using every inch of her body, with her sexuality wired up as if for a last, deadly tango, Stone is a force of nature in this role, and her delivery of the lines is letter perfect. Is there an OBIE in her future?
